Forward into 2008…

AMUC (the camp experience) is over for another year, but AMUC (the idea..) lives on.

May this blog be a place where you can find out about the upcoming reunion.. more info ASAP, and relevant events/etc that are happening in and around Perth that are set to inspire and encourage all year round.

If you’ve got a story you’d like to share about your AMUC experience, leave a comment or email kathleenpearce@gmail.com and we can organise for it to be posted here. If there’s is any more feedback you’d like to give about the camp that you didn’t get to make on the camp feedback forms email joshuahobby@gmail.com. Every thought is helpful for the continuation of AMUC.

Watch this space, check back regularly. Tell your friends. Let’s make it really interactive to keep each other inspired and active in our City, that we might be able to experience Jesus, and help other to experience him and his love also.

Grace,
Kat.

Nearly there…

We’re gearing up for another amazing AMUC experience. The team that are putting the camp together met last week down in Waroona to hang out, sort some juice out for camp and to spend some time with Ross (SU Young Adults Champion!).

Old AMUC titleWe’re very excited, and you should be aswell! The applications are flowing in, but we need more. If you’re already coming, ask your friends whether they want to spend a week exploring who Jesus is, and what He’s up to in our city. If you’re not already coming.. seriously consider it. Weigh it up, pray about it, and apply. We’ve got the form right here for you to fill in.

In other news, we have a confirmed venue for the main part of the camp - City Church of Christ on Stirling St, in Northbridge.

Also, remember to check out the post about Open Sessions if you want to come down and hear Jon Owen speak about his life and experiences in Sydney.

The experience of AMUC is known to be transformational. I hope you’re ready.

Open Sessions

Open SessionsEveryone is invited to hear Jon Owen speak. If you are unable to make it to AMUC for the camp experience, why not think about coming down for the Open Sessions. For a donation of $5, you get to hang out with Jon Owen, and a bunch of groovy people, and some morning tea will be thrown in just for fun!

Following a short time of worship at 8.30am, the sessions will begin at 9am and will conclude at approx. 12noon on;
Tuesday 22nd, (no worship session on this day)
Wednesday 23rd,
(Thursday is Sabbath Day for the campers.)
Friday 25th
and Saturday 26th of January 2008.

Please note, there is limited parking at the venue. And, in order to maintain a sense of community amongst the campers, these are the only times that AMUC will be open to visitors.

We would love to see you there. Invite all of your friends!

2008 Guest Speaker

Jon Owen The guest speaker for AMUC in 2008 is Jon Owen.

Jon and his wife Lisa are working with UNOH, in the Western Sydney area of Mt. Druitt. They are currently involved with lending support to many local community groups, responding to a variety of community-identified needs in the area. These included homework support, an after school activity club, support of an Aboriginal Youth Club, peer support of local Indigenous leaders and involvement with Burmese refugees. They live in a public housing estate in the Northwestern tip of Mt. Druitt, seeking Christ’s transformation in a neighbourhood described by one resident, as “not Hell, but it ain’t Heaven either”.

Check out his blog here. His family also create a newsletter a couple of times per year, you can see the most recent one here also.

The organisation that he is involved with is called UNOH. Have a look at what they have been up to recently.

Welcome!

The Face of AMUCWelcome to the new AMUC blog/site/community/virtual home.

We hope that over the next few months this blog will serve as a source of important information that will keep you up to date with what is going on for the Camp in January.

Today we updated most of the information on this page. Check out Camp Info especially. There are also some really old photos from past camps if you are feeling nostalgic (you’re able to comment on these!)

Most Importantly, the AMUC Application Form is available to download.

Once AMUC - the event - has been and gone, we hope that this site can serve as a place/base for AMUC-ers and others to find out what is going on in Perth; Events, rallies, issues and the like that relate to the purposes that the camp also shares.

Please become a part of the community. Feel free to comment, and make suggestions about how this site can be used well.

If you would like to become a contributor to this site, email Kathleen. She will happily sign you up.

Once again, welcome! We hope you enjoy your stay.
